One sure and primary and fundamental fact is the joint existence of a subject and of its world. The one does not exist without the other. I acquire no understanding of myself except as I take account of objects, of the surroundings. I do not think unless I think of things — and there I find myself. - Bruce Lee

Say what!?! I didn’t understand a word she said. Was that in english?

Seriously thou she’s unable to convey her thoughts in any meaningful or proper way. Talk about a utter failure of our education system. I have never seen a person with such poor communication skills.

I hope she was just nervous or something. I know when I’m nervous I start to stutter a little but I still make sense in what I say.

I lost her when she started babbling about South Africa. I speak as a professional older sister when I say that we’ve long needed a Rosetta Stone of teenage girl-speak.

No give in.  Once I’d penetrated the drawl, each word was definately English.  The sentance though…

To be fair, she went on the Today show this morning to redeem herself.  Still, her Teen USA performance didn’t do much to help her avoid blonde jokes.  I would’ve thought she’d have worked out those kinks before making it to the national level.

Beware the beast man, for he is the Devil’s pawn. Alone among God’s primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother’s land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home, and yours. Shun him, for he is the harbinger of death.

She will be kicking her own ass for quite sometime..
She is young, She is new to just answering questions out of the blue.

First off...What percentage of that 5% is under 5 years old ?

And I really hate to admit this, But I made some incredibly stupid remarks when I was a teenager. And it would not surprise me to learn that she has a learning disability that effects her communication skills when she is put (On the Spot).

We have time to respond to her comments. She was asked for an immediate answer. Best not to judge young folks to harshly.

Normally I would agree with you.  But there’s one problem, she isn’t me, you, Les, or anyone else.  She entered into a competition knowing full well what she would have to do.  Including answering a question on the fly.  In fact the girls prep for that kind of thing.

Now she likely didn’t know what question she was going to be asked, but if you enter a competition knowing full well you gotta answer on the fly.  Than you better prep your ass off and learn how to do it.

It honestly seemed to me like she had prepped to answer questions on the fly. She prepped with buzzwords. Why else would she randomly throw “the Iraq” and South Africa into a question about American education? She’s not a bright girl who obviously has poor communication skills and so she memorized a few buzzwords and decided she’d work them into any answer she had to give.

Or perhaps I’m being a tad too cynical.

I’m with you Akusai, it seemed clear she was trying to make her answer about more than just the question. Concern for the less fortunate is one of the cliches of beauty pageants and she appeared to be trying to play that card in her answer.

How ironic. Who’s concerned for the proverbial airheaded blondes who are less fortunate in the brains department?

One of my commenters was (comment 20), and I can definitely see his point.  Imagine being this girl!  Andy Warhol never promised that 15 minutes of fame would be a pleasant experience.

Somebody needs to tell that girl that “I don’t know” is a perfectly acceptable answer to any question.

Tafka: I didn’t know it was possible to have a negative IQ score.

If you finish the test before you’re supposed to start you’d record a negative time (if it was still accepted), which might give a negative score of greater magnitude the closer the finish was to the start

Ok, that would just be cheating.  I didn’t know it was possible to legitimately have a negative IQ score. raspberry
