I found it pretty funny, and I’m a latent geek.  Sounds about right.

I must have watched this damn thing at least two dozen times now and I giggle myself silly every damn time.

As someone who thinks Firefox a mediocre browser valuable only by virtue of its superiorty to IE, to which everything is superior, I find this video tiresome and bigoted.

Firefox isn’t the end-all solution to web browsing, conturary to what fanboys say.

For the record, I use Camino.

Ok, ciaervo- you piqued my curiousity, so I installed Camino.  True- it works great and looks fine.  But it doesn’t seem to have any advantages over Firefox, at least the way I use a browser, and has the disadvantage that you can’t use extensions such as All-in-One Gestures, which speed up web navigation considerably.

And calling this cute video “bigoted” is a bit over the top- browsers are not (yet) conscious entities, and thus cannot be offended by being satirized; and I don’t feel we need to handle their poor defenseless creators with kid gloves.

Funny too, I don’t recall Camino being one of the “discriminated” browsers shown in the video....looked like IE, Netscape and Safari to me.

Besides, doesn’t Mozilla put out BOTH Firefox AND Camino?  It’s my understanding that Firefox is optimized for PCs, but can be run on Mac, or Linux, Camino is there answer to Safari.

I didn’t claim Camino to be better than Firefox; I said Firefox isn’t incredible. Extensions are convenient, but the lack thereof in Camino isn’t a disadvantage in fact. When I say the video is bigoted I refer to the creator; it’s a literary device which I believe is called a “synecdoche”.

True, the video doesn’t discriminate against Camino; I thought mentioning that I use a browser not included in it would convey that I’m protesting not just out of counter-fanboy spite, like if I used IE, Netscape, or Safari. Rather, what annoyed me was the implication that Firefox is the _best_ browser.

This is hardly worth picking nits over, but…
Ciaervo, you first said that Firefox is “mediocre”, which implies (to me anyway) that you think there’s a better browser out there.  But you haven’t mentioned one.  Here’s one (for Mac only) I think is interesting, because it’s tiny and can display sites with no frames, and can be made transparent: the Nagara Browser.

What’s the difference between a simple disadvantage and a “disadvantage in fact”?  It remains a fact that Camino’s lack of extensions is a disadvantage- for me.  I’ll stick with Firefox.
