Dick DeVos just lost my vote.

Up until this morning I hadn’t completely ruled out voting for Republican gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos this November in part because I’m not entirely happy with Michigan’s current governor, Jennifer Granholm. Most of what DeVos’ campaign commercials have been about is the need to create more jobs in Michigan, which is pretty much a given these days, but there’s been little mention about other policies or issues.

What’s finally convinced me that he’d be a bad choice for governor are the news reports this morning that DeVos feels Intelligent Design should be taught in science classrooms:

“Lots of intelligent people can disagree about the origins of life. In the end, I believe in our system of local control,” he said in a news release Wednesday afternoon. “Local school boards should have the opportunity to offer evolution and intelligent design in their curriculums.”

DeVos said exposing students to the concept of intelligent design—viewed by most scientists as a nonscientific, religion-based belief—would help them analyze competing theories.

I figured if I waited long enough he’d eventually come up with a reason for me to not vote for him and now he has. Congrats Mr. DeVos, you’ve lost my vote.

And the all knowing and powerful Jenkins has not yet given word to build such device

Though personal donations will be accepted by the Lord High Arch Pope. Or a new fridge. Or a tyre for front near side RH drive 97 Mondeo. Or any of the following wargames armies.
10mm ECW, 10mm ACW, 25mm Napoleonic, 10mm Ancient Greek.  1:300 1980’s Soviet is also considered holy.

Blessings on Brother Zilch for reminding my Holiness of the bottle of Celtic Holy Water I has in the dining room side board.  Its the weekend wink

Brandi and Nicole may have been one and the same. They both posted from the same IP address, but it could have just been two idiots sharing the same library computer.

Brandi and Nicole may have been one and the same.

I don’t think so, Les.  Close textual analysis reveals significant dissimilarities in their posts.  Brandy had seven spelling errors, two grammatical errors, and at least one sentence that made no logical sense.  Nicole’s post was 100% accurate, if a bit overenthusiastic.  But that’s excusable, given the subject matter (her impending marriage).

Conclusion: Brandy and Nicole, while they may have been using the same computer, are not the same person, and probably not identical twins or even siblings.  Confidence factor: 95%.

Speaking of human fallibility:  yipes.  I just realized that I misspelled “Laphroaig” as “Laphroiag”.  Must have been a hanging chad…

Zilch, if you keep using language like this, SEB won’t be fit for children anymore.

By the way, apparently CyberSitter blocks SEB and my site wink
