Crosses To Bear

I’d like to ask everyone here (and over at my Blog, where I’ll mirror this post) for a little help. I’ve been having a discussion with my wife about the novel I’m writing. More exactly, about the title of the book, “Crosses To Bear”. I’ve chosen the title because of the underlying theme of the story, which involves living with guilt and living with burdens. The phrase, I think, conveys that in a nicely poetic way. My wife objects (we are both firm atheists) because she thinks the phrase has a strong religous meaning and that the audience will expect the book to have some sort of religous content. It won’t.

So I guess my question is, what do you think when you hear the title? Do you think it sounds preachy, would you assume the book had religous content, or would you just assume the title was metaphor?

‘Gospel Noir’

Yeah, that works for me, as does

I’m not arrogant, I’m right.

I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the story.

Um, did you hear Oz won the final of Cricket’s World Cup?
It’s a bit different from USian style ‘World Series’ misnomer as it really did have teams from other countries competing.

I’ve discovered that it all boils down to brain wiring: your brain is wired to worship magic or it isn’t, either it’s wired to utilize logic or it isn’t, either it’s analytical of myths or it isn’t.

Caught bits, but finally gave up when it looked likely SL would shortly be weather affected during the 22nd over.

weather affected

Yeah, the programme started last night at 11 - far too late for me.
I left the TV on loudly enough for me to hear in my bedroom so that during the night I caught bitsnpieces as I woke up to role over on to my other side.
I fully awoke and got up when they were giving out the medals.
I like it that nothing went wrong for Oz.

Back to the OP.
I just looked at the TV guide for what’s on tonite.
‘What would Jesus Drive’ @ 10.17.
Mmm. Wonder what that’s about. LOL
I wonder what he Would drive. Surely something small and cheap to run … something like this.

So as not to use this thread anymore I’ve followed KPG’s lead and taken a blog at WordPress.  Biblical Noir opening here.

Paul: Why don’t you tell us a little about the book, and give us a shot at it’s name. You know...Just in case one of us has a major brainstorm

Well it may not be a Brain Storm, perhaps a breeze or light wind..It is tuff naming stuff like this.

Lost in ________( Insert City )
Ripples
Ripples on the Loose
My Rippled Run Away
Run Away
Finding ________ ( Insert girls name )

I did wiki Bear = Homophone mammal, that’s why I thought Grizzly. hehe

I generally only read very few authors. John Grisham, Nicholas Sparks, Richard Paul Evans and a couple of others. Books must be pleasant to read before bedtime. I can read 10 pages before going to sleep. So chapters need to be short. And no more than 5 or 6 characters in the book. But of course that is just me.

I do think that sex or geographic location sells before religion. Like a Girls name. I did see the cover you posted.
“Very Nice”
Good luck to you !!
