Flipping through channels on TV this evening I happened to pass by the Trinity Broadcast Network when something caught my attention. They were running a show called Creation in the 21st Century with “Dr.” Carl Baugh which their website describes as follows:

Hosted by Dr. Carl Baugh, the foremost doctor on creation science. Presenting scientific evidence for creation and design by a personal creator.

Wow. If you’re in need of a good laugh then you should check out this show. Some of the claims made by the good Doctor will have your sides splitting from laughter. Dr. Carl has his own creation evidence website in addition to being the founder of the Creation Evidence Museum in Glen Rose, Texas.

According to this program you’ll learn fascinating “facts” such as that pre-flood Earth was 10% smaller than it is now and had this amazing canopy around it and a higher carbon dioxide level allowing plants to grow to huge proportions. Which is why God created the dinosaurs as something needed to keep all the giant plants in check. Oh, and eventually all the continents will merge back together again and the dinosaurs, which are apparently hiding in the Congo and other remote places, will once again become common on the Earth.

Watching this guy present his nonsense with a straight face just tickles my funny bone to no end. If you need a good giggle you’d be hard pressed to find anything funnier on another channel.

o why do people still believe that man and dinosaur never lived together, and why isn’t anyone else commenting on that link?

Excuse me for a moment, this will be quite rude…

HA! Ha haha haha haha hhahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha!

OK, sorry about that, but I had to get it out of my system. Please tell me that Ichthus is just one of you regulars playing around. *Snicker!*

Sorry, Ichthus, I apologize for my initial reaction.  I was just afraid that if any creationists found out about that link that our whole house of scientific cards would come tumbling down.  Please don’t tell any of your friends at church about it.  Please!

“You are naughty, DoF.”

Hey, you’re the one who posted that link!  It was pretty much unknown before but on a popular blog like this, now Google will find out about it, and then prominent creationists… it will be impossible to suppress.  How could you?

Now our only hope is to pretend it’s some sort of elaborate joke and hope they believe us.  downer

Hey, you’re the one who posted that link!

But who’s really responsible? I got the link from Les.  Of course, he didn’t make up the story- the discoverers of Onyate Man did that.  Are they responsible?  Well, they probably wouldn’t have written it if it hadn’t been for creationists.  And who’s responsible for the creationists?  God, of course.  It’s all His fault.

Speaking of which- the God and Science site, and I, do agree about one thing: the weakness of ID in not proposing a model for the Designer. The G&S folks do have a model: you guessed it, the God of the Bible.  It’s nice to hear from Creationists who call a spade a spade, as opposed to the duplicity of Behe, Demski, et. al.  Of course, they’re still dead wrong.

Ithycus: I can see that people are trying to use more and more quotes from different people, ...

I was surprised to see that comment after your pointing us in the direction of all those funny (!) little (!) websites.
Round here, mate, you’ve gotta be careful about NOT shooting yerself in the foot.
Keep it simple, state some backed up, empirically provable, facts or know you’re just whistling in the darkness from which sound does not emanate ... or something like that. LOL

Z man:… the discoverers of Onyate Man did that.

Aw shit man. Wasn’t it a true story?
Firstly LH tells me he’s not Gawd and then you ruin another fantasy? Y’all are bastards. LOL

Yeah. Funny.

From just check here:  They have failed to understand that science has its own limits. Where science fails, God takes up. For instance, science has failed to fully treat the HIV/AIDS patients but in the presence of God, not only HIV/AIDS is being cured, but even the dead are being raised to life. Can science explain that?

... but even the dead are being raised to life. ??  big surprise
I am constantly amazed at the number of weird people we share our planet with. LOL

No, no, REALLY!  A missionary on furlough from “the field” visited her church and gave a talk about it, and HE definitely knew someone who passed through a village where they really saw it happen!!!  It’s not only true, it’s the TRUTH!!!  Can’t you sense the Truthiness™ in it?

The reason that scientists do not like ID is not because it is a challenge to them, but that it is not science.

Evolutionary Theory basically predicts the biology of any new discovery.  We are discovering new species all the time. All these dicoveries do what they are predicted to do. A biologist can tell you why mammals give live birth for example.  Any mammals discovered will fit these rules.  If you can discover a mammal that does not fit these rules, and can not be explained then you are about to be the richest biologist ever.

ID/Creationism does NOT make predictions.  Because each species was created seperately, we are unable to infer anything about future discoveries. There is no model- just ‘God made it that way’.

A good example of the failings of your arguement is your statement
in the presence of God, not only HIV/AIDS is being cured, but even the dead are being raised to life.

Where is the evidence for this. Not just “a freind of a freind”. Were these people accurately diagnosed as HIV positive or dead? Can you prove it? Has the miricle actually happened? What eveidence do you have.  If someone makes an amazing, impossible claim do you believe them with no further evidence?  If so, allow me to sell you some snake oil, guarenteed to cure all ills…

Just out of interest what do you have against “human rights activists, green peace activists,”?  Do you wish to renounce your human rights, or is that just for others when you don’t agree with them?  What is wrong with trying to stop humans poisoning this planet, destroying all life?

I wonder which version of ‘God said so’ we will get.

Hussar, as it is said in Genesis 1:24,25 oranges don’t grow on apple trees neither does man come out of a monkey. The evolutionary predictions you are talking about are not solid and has no basis whatsoever. Regarding the Human rights and green peace activists, what I am talking about is the time that is spent in lobbying their cause. This time if spent in the presence of God, they would get immediate results. And regarding the evidence of a dead man being raised to life in the name of Jesus, please visit this site.

So Pat Robertson, that tower of credibility, talked to a guy from the mission field who claimed to have talked to a guy who claimed to have been raised ‘fum the dead.  That is eerily similar to the parody I posted above.

What nonsense.

Hey all, I’m back again smile

I’ve just been wondering what you guys thought of living fossils? - and all those organisms that’ve been unchanged for ‘millions’ of years

there’s a heck of a lot of them! So I was wondering how you would react to them :p So let’s see…

here’s just an introductory page, before we get onto ones a little more specific.
http://tinyurl.com/rh8hz

these are today’s creatures that remains virtually unchanged since that apparent time - just to name a few:

http://www.nwcreation.net/fossilsliving.html
*Alligators and Crocodiles - 230 million years
*Army Ants - 100 million years
*Cockroaches - 350 million years
*Coelacanth [with plenty of secular references] - 400 million years
*Crinoid - 150 million years
*Cycads - 240 million years
*Dragonfly - 230 million years

and here’s some more nice photos of fossilised insects [and other things],including the bee, the spider and the Dragon fly
http://www.wasdarwinright.com/livingfossils.htm

oh yeah, and here are some excellent ones from the National Geographic site:
- http://tinyurl.com/nlcoh - which are pretty much the same as todays ones. I can imagine Evolutionists calling it the “dino-duck”, LOL!
you can also see more info on this site here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13342029
- http://tinyurl.com/rflss - even Pingu was with the dinosaurs, hehe :p
- http://tinyurl.com/nzwex - with More than 500 salamander fossil specimens!

- now onto the BBC [UK]:
http://tinyurl.com/o6vga - Oldest hummingbird fossils found
- http://tinyurl.com/or06 - Jurassic pot plants on sale soon

Although this link is a MUSLIM site, even they have found and shown plenty of living fossils themselves:
http://www.living-fossils.com

just to name a few - didn’t want to bore you with a list of the WHOLE lot of them, it’d take too long, anyway

so now then, how can there be so many living fossils if they were long extinct millions of years ago? wink - and not only that, they’re practically identical to today’s organisms!

decrepitoldfool United States Posted on 09/20/2006 at 09:22 AM

Gaz, none of those critters ever went extinct.  And they’re still around because they hit upon a form that could reproduce reliably against environmental pressures, so mutations conferred no selective advantage.  Thus, no change.

In a sense, they’re more advanced than you are.

zilch Austria Posted on 09/20/2006 at 09:36 AM

Gaz, DoF said it.  I’ll just add my favorite “living fossils” to your list: sharks.  They hit upon an ideal configuration for “fearsome predator” many millions of years ago, and haven’t seen any reason to trade it in.

Whatever in the ever-lovin’ world gave you the idea that critters have to evolve quickly?  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, is the motto of my grandfather and evolution alike.

Of course, some lineages evolve pretty quickly- our own, for instance.  We split off from the chimps about five million years ago, and while we share about 98% of our genes in common, it’s obvious that that 2% difference has a rather large effect.

if so, then where is all the evidence of their less-evolved predecessors? if they were so evolved back then, show me fossil evidence of what they were like before they became “perfect”.

We split off from the chimps about five million years ago, and while we share about 98% of our genes in common, it’s obvious that that 2% difference has a rather large effect.

when you say “split off”, do you mean we’re separate from chimps/monkeys, or are they ‘distant relatives’ to us? [or both]

oh, and this is an interesting quote from Nature:

“A comparison of human DNA with that of mice and chickens concludes that ‘the organisation of the human genome is closer to that of the chicken than the mouse” — the exact opposite of expectations from evolutionary theory.

-Nature, November 25, 1999, pp. 411–413

zilch Austria Posted on 09/20/2006 at 10:36 AM

Uh, Gaz, we would be more impressed with you if you didn’t just quote verbatim from antsinmygenitals.
I don’t know where they got that quote, but even if it appeared in Nature, it’s out of context.  The chicken has not yet been sequenced, but humans and mice have been, and they are amazingly similar.  I can’t find any scientific claims that the chicken genome is more similar to the human than the mouse genome is, in terms of structure, organization, similar genes, or anything else.

Do yourself and us a favor, Gaz, and read up a bit at talk origins so that you have some idea of how science works before you drive by again.  Cheers, zilch.
