In an apparent attempt to dissuade the few remaining people willing to travel on their airline the folks at Continental have introduced a $15 charge for your first checked bag
The fee applies immediately to tickets bought for destinations in the United States and to flights between the United States and Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada for travel starting on or after October 7.
Continental said the fee will not apply to its “EliteAccess” customers, travelers on full-fare economy tickets, or to military personnel and their families on official orders.
That’s in addition to a $25 fee for a second checked bag. Soon they’ll have a $30 oxygen fee and you’ll have to fly naked or face another $25 fee. Fuck Continental Airlines. I’ll fucking walk.
Since 9/11 I have been on one plane trip. That one was to visit my folks in CA when my grandmother died (I live in Wisconsin). That was enough for me to swear off the airlines ever since (and I’m a pilot) Now, I take an annual road trip to CA every Summer, and the only way you’ll get me on any airline is a serious friggen emergency or if I have to go across the pond for some reason (and I would still rather take a boat)
Fuck the airlines. They’ve had plenty of chances to do what’s right since 9/11 and they’ve blown ever single one. I hope they continue to lose billions until they go bankrupt. I feel only slightly sorry for the people that would put out of work, but if your drawing a paycheck from these clowns, you gotta know somethings wrong with your career choice. Unfortunately, they’ll probably never die out completely. There’s still business class. Those poor bastards are stuck. Never mind the cost…. but if you have to be in a different city every night, you might as well bend over for a body cavity search at every security checkpoint.
