During her visit of Blackburn England Condoleezza Rice engaged in a Q&A with some of the locals and was big enough to admit that our handling of Iraq has been incompetent, but that she still feels taking Saddam out was the Right Thing To Do:
“Yes, I know we have made tactical errors, thousands of them,” she said in answer to a question over whether lessons had been learned since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
“I believe strongly that it was the right strategic decision, that Saddam had been a threat to the international community long enough,” she added.
I think it’s been pretty well established that the only people Saddam was a threat to were the people in his own country and, while that may or may not still be justification for taking him out, it’d be really nice if the Bush Administration would stop trying to play Saddam up as the next Hitler. It just isn’t true and it makes them look like idiots every time they imply it.

I hope she was exaggerating.
