According to this article on MSNBC.com (midway down page) composer John Debney got into a bit of a tussle with Satan while scoring Mel’s snuff film:

“I had never before subscribed to the idea that maybe Satan is a real person, but I can attest that he was in my room a lot and I know that he hit everyone on this production,” Debney said, according to a lengthy interview that ran on Assist News Service, a Christian news agency.

Debney claims that Satan’s image kept appearing on his computer screen while he was trying to compose music. “The first time it happened, it scared me,” he said. “Once I got over the initial shock of that, I learned to work around it and learned to reboot the computers and so I would start talking to him. . . . The computers froze for about the tenth time [one] day and it was about nine o’clock at night and so I got really mad and I told Satan to manifest himself and I said, ‘Let’s go out into the parking lot and let’s go.’ It was a seed change in me. I knew that this was war. I am not a physical person, but I was really angry on this occasion.”

Apparently Satan was too much of a wuss to take Debney up on his challenge. Still, Debney was able to get a pic of Satan as he appeared to him on his computer monitor so that the rest of us can see the truth for ourselves! Click continue to see it yourself!

Surely it's Satan!

Right about now is where one of the Mac Fanatics will say something like, “He wouldn’t have had that problem if he had used a friggin’ MAC!”

So let me get this straight… you can make the Prince of Darkness go away by RESTARTING?

That is an awesome picture.  I don’t know if it’s the horns that are funnier, or his butter-wouldn’t-melt-in-my-mouth expression.

But it does confirm my sneaking suspicion that Satan wears button-down collars.

Kilgore, yes it would seem that Satan is vulnerable to the Three-Fingered-Salute.

nowiser, thanks. It was a five minute hack job I whipped up just for this joke.

Yeah, when my computer locks up, I don’t blame Satan, I blame Bill Gates ... and now it would appear that I have reason to blame both!

Perhaps this is an opportunity for someone to get into the business of selling exorcism themeed virus scanners.

Anyway, regardless of all of the smack that has been talked about this flick, I’m actually looking forward to seeing The Passion.  I’m an atheist, but even I can’t deny that the story of the crucifixion is a powerful one.  And I’m always up for a violent, weird movie (Natural Born Killers anyone?).

Dast,,,

i know you have just posted that you are an atheist.,,,but with no intentions to convert you, sway you, or convince you of the ways of Christianity,,,please take a look at Isaiah ch. 53 before you go to see the movie.  it was a prophecy give 700 years before the birth of Christ.  you may already be familiar with this portion of scripture.

Sure. But somebody correct me if I’m wrong here...were the other MULTITUDES of crucifixions done on a regular basis not just as brutal and gruesome?

It’s not like they invented this especially cruel method just for him.

IMO, the point to take away from the movie should be “why yes, crucifixion is, in fact, ghastly”...not that there is any particular point to be made for Xtianity by showcasing this brutality...brutality that he was NOT the lone sufferer of.

Yes, you can argue that whole rising from the dead thing afterwards. But I simply don’t buy it. He either didn’t actually die, or didn’t actually rise. Pick one.

brandi,,,

brandi,,,not saying you are wrong, and most of the crucifixions were brutal as well, but not as brutal as scripture claims Jesus’ was.

brutality that he was NOT the lone sufferer of.

the thing that sets the crucifixion apart from the one of Christ is the bible’s claim that on the cross Jesus took on the sin of the world.

at the moment he said “my God why have you forsaken me”.  i am not telling you that you must accept that the crucifixion of Christ was the most horrible.  but the thing that sets it apart, if it did indeed happen, was that he did not have to go through it.

if the movie the passion of the Christ were instead the suffering of the thief on the left and right of Christ, their punishment was due.

Jesus could have at any moment not gone through the suffering.  that is the thing that makes it “ghastly” and sets it apart from other crucifixions.

if Jesus did not exist, then his punishment never happened, but those through the centuries that have professed to knowing him, have gone under similar physical torment and suffering, which still happens even today.

even though you may believe Christ did not exist brandi, do you still think a story (even if it was fiction) about a man that would be willing to endure that for people he loved is a powerful story?...just asking

I do believe he existed, I know of little evidence to the contrary. I just think he was a wise man with a wildly embellished story. And that nothing supernatural happened other than in the minds of the superstitious masses. Just as it does today.
