To Kathy and Claudia:

I am a Tennessean and lawyer. Since I’m a lawyer, I like to deal with facts and evidenced it to the truth.  I have; therefore provided some definitions to help us solve this little quandary.  Is Nancy Grace a Southern Bell or a Putz.

[Definitions]

1. Southern Bell
a.  A female from the Southern United States; Usually implies that the female in question possess both beauty, charm and style, while having a core of strength, intelligence and wit.
b.  A popular and attractive girl or woman; especially: a girl or woman
whose charm and beauty make her a favorite of the ball.

2.  Putz
a. (Yiddish) a fool; an idiot
b.  Literally, vulgar slang for penis, not to be used lightly. More offensive than the schmuck, which can be used affectionately or teasingly. Rarely used to describe the member, schmuck does that. Def. from the “Joys of Yiddish” by Leo Rosten

Common Usage: “What a putz!� Used the same as “What an asshole!�

[Thus, “Putz�=�Asshole.� So, what does “Asshole� mean?]

3.  Asshole
a.  Someone being arrogant, rude, obnoxious, or just a total dickhead....
b.  The worst kind of person. You cannot fully construct a meaning that fully encompasses what this vicious insult means. If you’re an asshole, you are disgusting, loathesome, vile, distasteful, wrathful, belligerent, agoraphobic, and more. Assholes are human fecal matter. They are the lowest of the low. They transcend all forms of immorality. It is the very worst of insults; to be called an asshole is to have your very soul ripped apart and shat on. I say that the word “asshole” is the worst cussword of the english language, worst than fuck, shit, and cunt combined.
Common Usage: “Sean is the biggest fucking asshole I’ve ever met in my life!â€?

Now, properly informed with regard to the meaning of the terms at hand, we can begin to deliberate as to whether Ms. Grace is in fact a “Southern Bellâ€? and/or a “Putz.â€?  As noted above, I am a Southerner and a lawyer.  As a Tennessean, I was raised by a Southern Bell.  I can assure you, should you have any doubt after reading definition, Ms. Grace is in no Southern Bell in any shape, form. or fashion...PERIOD!

I found this site by googling “Nancy Grace Sucks.â€?  So, obviously, I’m biased. I think that Nancy Grace is a fool.  She’s not; however, an idiot.  She got into law school; graduated and passed the Georgia State Bar, and that’s not easy folks.  You’ve got to have something besides peroxide in your hair to pull that off.  Nonetheless she is unquestionably arrogant, rude and obnoxious. 

In sum, is my professional legal opinion that Nancy Grace is a Putz.

PS- Kathy your earlier post about Nancy’s legal troubles being no big deal because all lawyers get “slapped on the wristâ€? is just flat wrong.  For a state Supreme Court to tell an prosecutor that she had played fast and loose with the law is huge.  As a citizen and someone whose subject to the rule of law, you’d better pray that neither you or anyone you love ever faces a prosecutor like Nancy Grace.  Her behavior is simply up abhorrent and dangerous.  Remember most judges were once lawyers, they don’t trash their own lightly.  I’m sure these rulings had a lot to do with her change of career.  The good news is her antics can no longer landed innocent person in jail.  For the record , civil litigator not a criminal defense attorney, so don’t even go there!

The internet can be interesting in for a few different reasons (otherwise it’s quite dull, IMO). One thing I find fascinating is the discussion of crap, and how the minority who for some reason feel the need to defend crap, usually have very crap arguments and get oblitorated by the slightly more enlightened.

Well, Nancy Grace admitted that she needs a shrink on her show last night, right before spitting out an outright lie about the Jacko jury.

Maybe it’s a cry for help.

Being French, democrat, and gay, I have felt insulted by her comments. I would’t give a sh** about her if she only worked for a channel like FOX, but why CNN??? How can this channel broadcast this angry biggot who can’t even listen to her guests? Shame on you CNN! You are the largest news channel of the democratic world, and your viewers deserve better than that!

I appreciate your response regarding Ms.Nancy Grace, however,I totally disagree with you.
I found this site by typing in I love Nancy Grace.
I am a 77 yr. old grandmother and I watch a lot of television.
Ms.Grace was on Larry King last week to promote her new book, OBJECTION!, which I think you need to read. It explains a lot about Ms. Grace and her life in Atlanta as a prosecutor.
She was also asked by Larry about the 11th circuit court and her reprimands. She answered with dignity and said that she appreciated the court being in place and that she did learn from the reprimands.
Ms. Grace left Atlanta when the DA decided not to run again after I think being in office for some 30 years. The new DA put a new staff in place, as they usually do. By chance, the owner of court TV liked Ms.Grace because he had seen her in court on many cases that were broadcast on court TV.
She had many offers from different defense attorneys offices in the Atlanta area, but she did not want to be a defense atty. This is not why she went to Law school. She went to be a public servant. The owner of court TV offered her a job with the late Johnnie Cochran as her sparring partner in a show named Cochran and Grace. That is how is got to court TV. Not because of the infractions with the 11th circuit court.
Now, as far as Ms. Grace being a belle, I disagree with you there, too. She is a beauty with much charm and style. She had to be strong to get through law school and since she finished at the top of her class, she had to be intellegent.
As a child, Ms. Grace was a Jackson fan. She won a dance contest dancing to “rocking robin”, by Jackson. She was crushed when Jackson started all of this mess he has gotten himself in. Yes, I do believe he is guilty. So, she therefore, had talent in order to win the contest.
She is therefore, a southern belle.
I do not like ugly words like the ones used on this place, so this will be my last visit, but I felt I had to respond to your comment.
I do hope that you are a southern belle as well, since you are from Tenn.
I have several attorneys in my family and one that is in the statehouse as a senator, so I do respect all lawyers. You have a hard job.

I don’t care about Nancy Grace, have never seen her (which, judging by all these comments, is probably a blessing), but you sound absolutely marvellous! If I ever get to make a much longed-for trip to the usa, particularly the southern states, can I come and visit you, and sip iced tea while sitting on the porch swing?

It seems that we got our signals crossed.  My closing line “SHE IS A DISGRACE MARTHA Kâ€? - was a response to Martha K.’s post.  I am not Martha K.  Please note that the name associated with my posts is “Mensrea.â€?  More importantly, I said my mother was a Southern Bell, not me!  I am a dude!  Hetero, married (happily!), kid. 

Having clarified those critical points, I must say that I appreciate your post, but we will just have to agree to disagree.  I won’t, for the sake of brevity, dispute each of your points, but I will leave you with these thoughts:

1.One’s desire to be a public servant does not mean that he or she is good for the public or should hold such a position.  History is full of examples of this fact.  Hell, some would argue that the present is full of some pretty damn good examples. 

2.If you wrote a book about yourself, do you think you would admit to being a horrible prosecutor/putz who bends the rules of evidence and basic cannons of the legal profession in order to convict people no matter what, or do you think that you would say you had a pretty good and meaningful career in which you “served the public?�

3.Lastly, as a 77-year-old woman, do you really believe that you’d be the best judge of whether another woman was truly a “belleâ€? Southern or otherwise?  This is not a slam (insult).  I just think you’ve got a credibility issue on this point.  I would expect you to be a very nice person who can see the beauty in everyone.  The reality; however, is that Nancy Grace looks like a circus clown.  She’s just not going to be the belle of any ball worth going to.  I trust that my fellow dudes will agree.

Anyways, this is a bit longer than I wanted it to be.  Nice talking to you Ms. Kitty Poole.

Don’t presume to speak for everyone. I personally hate the “newest post first” style in a thread and there are several blogs that I don’t read just because of that structure.

This is the most horrible shit I’ve ever seen. I work for a daily in Canada and try to stay away from CNN. I was flipping channels and it was like trying to look away from a car accident. HEADLINE PRIME is the hugest joke I’ve ever seen. I just heard her say, “Well, I am outraged.” I love that she’s trying to be objective. Now we have “Anastasia” who has a lovely accent but the most horrible manner of delivering news I’ve ever seen. Well, second to Nancy Grace.

I’ve tried it both ways and I have to say that I prefer the oldest to newest method I’m currently using. Feels more like a conversation that way.

Not to say I haven’t tried to make getting around the thread a bit easier. You’ll note that the links in the email notifications for a thread will jump straight to the comment referenced instead of making you go to the start of the page and scroll down. Same with the Most Recent Comments links.

Sorry, Janice, if you are going to come to a site and try to debate issues and ideas, your command of the language is important.  Inability to properly form coherent sentences implies several things.  You are either uneducated, can’t bothered to take the time to represent a good argument, or you are a functional illiterate.  None of these bode well for your ability to use logic to prove a point.  The occasional typo or even the inadvertant switching of something like “there” and “their” is understandable, but consistent poor grammar, syntax, spelling ("burry"?), and punctuation lead one to think that yours is a small mind with nothing of interest or validity to add to any discussion.
