I saw this, too.  I had a post all ready to go called “I thought this was a joke...”.  Too funny!

On a serious note, Matt “The Knife” Blunt began his term as Governor by submitting a budget that slashes Medicare. In Missouri that is how many people in the rural counties receive health care. Dental clinics will be one of the many services lost.

You know, I rarely ever post anywhere.  I find it counterproductive to dissent in a forum such as this but I just have to say something here.

Why exactly do you object so strenuously to people trying to reach out to a disadvantaged community and provide needed dental help that they could not otherwise afford?

Your primary objections seem to stem from the fact that the dentist profiled in the article practices in an airstream trailer, as if the very use of anything even remotely like a double-wide renders him nothing better than “trailer trash”, and from the fact that the effort is organized by the Southern Baptist Church.

Why is the very association with the church enough to make this effort worthy of your distain?  I am no fan of christianity in any of its forms, but I am at a loss to understand how their very presence taints this enterprise.

Perhaps I misread your intentions.  Perhaps you don’t object to the practice but merely find the people involved, both the providers and the recipients, laughable and worthy of your distain.  Either way, the attitude I read in your comments strikes me as petty.

I don’t think Warbi is objecting to this effort at all, but merely pointing out that it is a cliche come to life. Of course a lot of cliches have more than a little truth behind them which is part of why they’re cliches in the first place.

The effort itself is a “good thing” as is seeing that the Southern Baptists are behind it. That doesn’t diminish the humor in the irony much though.
