Interesting that the same government that wants us to pray, also kills off its own citizens and citizens in other countries.  Hmm, isn’t “thou shalt not kill” somewhere in Christian dogma?

Like most aspects of the Christian faith, most Christians seem to take a “pick and choose” approach to the Ten Commandments and yet still insist on their being posted on the local courthouse wall. It doesn’t help that there are several different variations on the Ten Commandments depending on which Bible or which faith (Jewish or Christian) you take them from. Nor does it help that very few people can list all of them off without having to look them up. The popular ones everyone seems to know (don’t steal, don’t kill, don’t cheat on your spouse), but even those have changed in meaning from their original intent and a large number of Christians seem to engage in many of those activities anyway. The adultery rate, for example, is estimated to be around 40% or so in America and the murder rate is one of the highest of any post-industrialized nations on the planet. Considering that 85% of the people in this country identify themselves as Christians it’s safe to say that the majority of the people violating the Ten Commandments are the same people who seem to think they’re a good moral code for other people to follow. More of that Do-As-I-Say-Not-As-I-Do thinking I guess.
