It’s the only way I can think to explain the two of them holding a big press conference yesterday claiming that we did, in fact, find WMDs in Iraq:
Congressman Hoekstra and I are here today to say that we have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons. … Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq’s pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist.
This came as a big surprise to the Department of Defense which wasted no time in disavowing the Senator’s claim. Surprisingly enough Fox’s Alan Colmes actually broke the news to Santorum after contacting the DoD:
COLMES: Congressman, Senator, it’s Alan Colmes. Senator, the Iraq Survey Group — let me go to the Duelfer Report — says that Iraq did not have the weapons our intelligence believed were there. And Jim Angle reported this for Fox News quotes a defense official who says these were pre-1991 weapons that could not have been fired as designed because they already been degraded. And the official went on to say these are not the WMD’s this country and the rest of the world believed Iraq had and not the WMD’s for which this country went to war. So the chest beating at this Republicans are doing tonight thinking this is a justification is not confirmed by the defense department.
SANTORUM: I’d like to know who that is. The fact of the matter is, I’ll wait and see what the actual Defense Department formally says or more important what the administration formally says.
So there you go. Conclusive proof that Santorum and Michigan’s own Hoekstra are both crack addicts that should be shipped off to the nearest Betty Ford Clinic before they become such strung out chronics that they’re giving hand jobs behind the capitol building in a desperate attempt to keep their habit satisfied.

What do you bet a substantial number of Americans will believe what Santorum and Hoekstra tell them, regardless of what the DoD says? Even if they’re forced to retract it? Sling enought mud, and some will stick, even if it’s your own shit…
