I thnk he released this song about 2 years ago before the election, but it’s terribly, horribly ironic that now after we in the US had a chance to make it all not relevant (by not re-electing the worst president in history according to many leading historians), everything in it, except the Ashcroft reference is still absolutely 100% topical to today.

This song is def. older than 2 years. If they aired it now it would cost well over a billion. The FCC blows goat nutz.

In amongst all the other stuff he talks about was the reference to violence being more acceptable in/on the media than sex.
I’ve always (well for the last three+ of my decades) been amazed that sex and violence seem to be diametrically opposed in the acceptance stakes.
Call me weird, but I’d rather see rampant sex in the streets than rampant violence.
Last nite I was watching an AFL (samples here with Jeff Farmer opening and here landing on his feet)game and a bloke kicked a goal and rushed up to hug his mate and I made the leap in my mind to ... what if they did a 10 second tongue kiss.
Ha-ha.
It woulda made news all round the world with more headlines than all of the current violence produces in the ME.

Well I sure hope that their attitudes are one area where the UK doesn’t follow.  There would be nothing left on UK TV, apart from Bland US sitcoms and Pop Idol. 

The last series of Big Brother finished Friday, and was won by a tourettes sufferer. The word ‘Wanker’ was frequent, especially when he was under stress. On one of the companion shows the host regularly talked about masterbation. Rude words abound on terrestial TV (although often bleeped, it doesn’t take a genius to work out what ‘f bleep’ is. Innuendo is often used, especially by gay presenters. About the only word that is really regulated is “the C word”.

To add to what Last Hussar said, the use of motherf***** is also regulated., despite it being one of favourite expletives of Samuel L. Jackson when being interviewed about Snakes on a Plane.
