I’m in line right behind you there Les.  I actually tried to get (a few times) tickets for the SF showing(s) of Serenity, but no joy.  I only have my DVDs to play and replay and replay until September…

Cool, I had a chance ot get a ticket for the advanced screening, but the guy only gave me a day’s notice and the city is three hours away.  Ah well, at least I have the DVDs! The Browncoats fan site is pretty good.  There are some groups that make shirts as well like, “No power in the ‘Verse can stop me.”

My wife and I are right with you Ted. We’ve been watching the DVD’s in preparation of the movie.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall of the meeting where the powers that be decided to cancel the show. I would love to understand why they did it. It was and still is the best thing to hit the small screen in years!

I have got to get that DVD set. I keep hinting around to my kids that Father’s Day is coming up and that old Dad would really, really like to have that DVD set, but who knows.

I’ll prolly end up hocking a guitar to buy it for myself. *sigh* Heh.

They did it because the ratings sucked. Nobody was watching. Add that to the early buzz on the show (pre-debut), which was terrible, a friday night time slot, and Foxes annoying propensity for cancelling shows that aren’t immediate hits and I knew the show was doomed before it even started.

It’s the quick cancellations that annoy me the most. Fox has done that over and over on shows that could have become hits. This year they nearly cancelled House because it started off slow. By season’s end it was their top rated scripted show.

I just got the Firefly DVD’s this Tuesday, and great googly moogly is that show good! I’d never seen it before, in spite of being a big fan of all things Joss Whedon. It defies all logic and basic human decency that it was cancelled, and without ever really being given a chance. Can anyone explain to me why anyone even tries to work with FOX? They just seem to crap up one great opportunity after another.

I came close to crying in the final for Angel.

Man, it was tough...they ended well considering that
as they started shooting they were told it was there last series.

I’m beginning to think Wolfram & Hart was a euthenism for Fox televion executives.
