I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for A&E’s new show called Paranormal State which bills itself as a serious look at paranormal claims and I considered tuning in to see just how bad it actually is. Fortunately for me Akusai from Action Skeptics has already checked it out:

Short Version: A&E’s new show ”Paranormal State” is the worst, stupidest, most ridiculous fucking thing I have ever seen in any of the myriad forms of visual media. And I’ve seen Plan 9 From Outer Space and about 15 minutes of a Dane Cook stand-up special.

That’s good enough for me. I’ll never need bother turning the show on now unless I’m desperately bored and want to see if it can actually make me laugh out loud.

Apparently A&E;is popping for the extra-creepy advertising using new ‘sound-beaming’ billboard technology.

Glad I could be of service. I do these things so others don’t have to, and because my girlfriend finds these shows as funny as I find them infuriating.

So Douchebag tracks down a picture of this former resident, shows it to the haunted child, and the following exchange ensues:

Douchebag: Your friend Timmy is in this picture.
Kid: He is?
Douchebag: Yes. [points to a person in the photo] This one.
Kid: This one?
Douchebag: Yes.
Kid: Yeah! It is him!

Akusai that was hilarious!! Awesome review.

I just got done watching the episode entitled “Beer, Wine and Spirits”.  It was quite the belly laugh.  A&E;is trying to sell this pile of dung.  I get a kick out of the comments by the investigators like “It’s real cold in here”...as they’re standing in an old metal shed....in the winter.  They end each episode with a ghost busting ceremony that’s similar to the end of A&E;’s other sappy show Intervention.  It’s like watching a train wreck, you can’t look away.

The billboard that is in use in NY for this series, is a simplified version of an ultrasound weapon that is used by organized crime to try to force people to kill themselves or very extended periods of time, pointed at their homes, and the FBI is not helping victims. This can be shown, please help spread awareness of this weapon. Give your children a choice. Learn about this crime from: http://www.youtube.com/rhyspaulhovey

That YouTube video was pretty pointless. Is the whole thing a joke or did I miss something?

Uh...what?  So you’re saying that the Mob, who according to all the movies about them have no problem whacking people, are spending millions on ultrasound weapons to make people kill themselves?  Are you sure you’re not confusing the mob with the reptiliods from Beta Reticulon Prime?

I will not attack your doctrines nor your creeds if they accord liberty to me. If they hold thought to be dangerous - if they aver that doubt is a crime, then I attack them one and all, because they enslave the minds of men.

Paranormal State: This kids go to college? So, do all of the “undead/dead” respond to Christian dogma?  And, the voice over is just annoying, if you had anything remotely paranormal going on in this show you wouldn’t need all the special effects. The only thing scary here is the ego of the guy in charge who has a “demon” after him. Right. Is the demon a member of SAG, too? The “Blair Witch” formula has found a new home on this sad show. What’s scary is that anyone would watch it.
