Air Force wants to use Americans as guinea pigs for non-lethal weapons.

Gotta love our leaders. Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne thinks we should test up and coming non-lethal weapons on American citizens in crowd-control situations before using them on foreign battlefields. Here’s his reasoning on why:

“If we’re not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation,” said Wynne. “(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press.”

Because, you know, you wouldn’t want to seriously injure someone you’re at war with when you didn’t really mean to. Better to find out if it maims or kills our own people before we use it on the enemy, right? And who cares if our own press vilifies him?

That’s not the worst sentiment in the world there. Although shouldn’t his concerns be having the victim in an area were medical attention is readily available and not so much with looking bad?

Although these are supposed to be non-lethal weapons, so by the time these are used on anyone they should have gone through quite thorough testing. (Note this part sounds kind of like defending Michael Wynne, it’s not he’s still an ass for worrying over image and not the victim)

Ok, if they’re testing them to see if they actually are non-lethal and what there cababilities are.. I wouldn’t blame this guy for not wanting to take heat in the press over something he didn’t design. and also is trying to see if this weapon can save lives by terms of non-lethal.. And I’m sure 100% of these people who may be the guinee pigs here in America, will be getting paid.. (alot), and plus, they’ll probably volunteer.

Testing of non-lethal weapons.
Mmm. Does that mean testing to see if they are non-lethal or testing to see how non-lethal they are?

Somehow I doubt ordinary people will volunteer but, I’ve been wrong before ... many times. wink
It’ll be military personnel who won’t have any choice or the homeless who won’t have much choice – how much is ‘a lot’ to a homeless person?
As well as that, I’m sure they’d have to sign a waiver against any future problems they may encounter that could be caused by the testing.
I know I wouldn’t volunteer for any sort of testing – not for any amount of money.

El Josh, I don’t think the people here would be getting paid for being test subjects as he was suggesting we should test them on crowds of protesters, not volunteers.
