Just wanted to let everyone know that the alternative to right-wing wackos: Air America, is now broadcasting in the Detroit area.

They can be found on the AM dial at 1310.

Do you smell that?… I think it’s a breath of fresh air…

Great. Now I am going to have to make the decision between NPR and Air America for my drive time listening.

Ughh.

Sorry, I’ve tried listening to Air America. Shrill, obnoxious and unpleasant. Not that much of right wing radio is any better but they should try listening to Limbaugh a bit. Ideology aside, he understands that what he is doing is entertainment and proceeds accordingly. It would be nice to hear someone on the left doing the same thing. Maybe they could talk Jon Stewart into doing radio......

As a side note, how many people on here are in the Michigan area? Maybe we should have a Stupid Evil Barbeque this summer.....

I am not from Michigan but I am only a 2-3 hour drive from Detroit.

I wonder if I would be able to pick up this station...it is on AM, so maybe on a good clear night as long as from Rochester or Toronto isn’t interfering. I will have to check it out.

I like the BBQ idea…

I’ve been listening to it for a few days now, and I’m not so sure it’s a “Good Thing”.

While I like the content, I agree with KPatrickGlover, that they could do a lot better.

NPR is just so damn good, it’s hard to pull myself away to something that just “OK”.

I’m not opposed to an SEB meet up of some sort. It’d be like going back to the good old days when we had BBS Bashes. Would have to be some place other than my home, though, as my little two bedroom apartment wouldn’t provide for much room.

Of course, I’ll need to have found a job by then to be able to afford to do something. grin

How about a park of some sort? They often have facilities for BBQs, picnics and the like and they usually will issue permits to allow beer. I’d volunteer to host, but I’m in Northern Michigan up by Traverse City and I figure if we can do it down state we’ll be able to get a better turn out.

One of the very few places you can hear honest reporting of issues anymore, the mainstream news media is insanely conservative republican bias and truth Im thinking is no longer part of their vocabulary.
