Acronym Plugin for ExpressionEngine

Looks like Charles of RippleWeb has developed an Acronym plugin for ExpressionEngine which he’s asking folks to test out. I’ve installed it here and already added a couple of extra acronyms to the list (such as SEB) as I’ve been looking for something like this for awhile now so that my Mom can easily find out what some of the more obscure acronyms I use actually mean. Whenever you see a word with a dashed line underneath it you can hold your mouse pointer over it to see what the acronym stands for. I’m open to taking recommendations for additions to the list if there’s anything you folks think should be included. If you want to try it out on your own EE blog then go download a copy and give it a whirl.

As usual. I see the dotted lines (and the text) in OS X Firefox, but not Safari.

That’s interesting. Seeing as it’s just a bit of CSS and a standard HTML tag I can only imagine it must be Safari that’s the reason. All the plugin does is wrap certain words with the proper HTML tag.

I may be wrong, but when ever something doesn’t work in Safari, I hear that it’s usually because Safari is very strict when it comes to web standards. I’m not sure if that means anything or not in this case.

I just realized that it’s just the dotted underline that I can’t see. The rollover text works fine.

This is odd.  I am checking this site with Safari and indeed I do not see the underlines beneath the acronyms.  However, when I check my own site with Safari (http://www.rippleweb.org) which is running this plugin, I do see the underlines and tooltips.  It looks like, Les, that you used a dotted underline while I am using a dashed underline.  Maybe that is the difference?
