actually the thing about the kneecaps is partially true. infants are born with a patella, but it is made of cartilaginous material. it ossifies later in life, so won’t show up on an x-ray until then. so technically it’s like they don’t have them in the usual sense of a kneecap, until they do ossify.

My current Logitech Pilot Mouse Optical (like yours but a more boring colour) managed to outlive the PC it was bought for. That said, I think they’re only $30 US so replacing it shouldn’t be difficult. You’ll just have to suffer gaming withdrawal symptons for a day or two smile.

Well, I’d start by learning how to type. Capitalization and punctuation would be nice as well. A good dictionary would help. Then move onto a good primer on HTML. There’s nothing I do here that you couldn’t do as well. It’s not about talent, it’s about investing the time to do it right. I realize English isn’t your first language so some of the sentence structure is understandable, but the format isn’t.

As for your son’s case being discrimination, sorry, I just don’t buy it. Do I think a judge would waste 9 days before throwing the case out if it didn’t have some merit? Well, yeah, I would. I’ve known judges to waste time on a number of different cases without merit before deciding to throw them out.

thank you Marius. LES, this whole story from day one has nothing to do with a trophy. it is a case of discrimination.Do you know whats the meaning of that word ?
For ever these type of request to court have always been thrown out by justice on the spot. For the first time a judge took “9” days before taking the decision to not carry the case to court.
DO YOU THINK THE JUDGE WASTED 9 DAYS OF WORK BECAUSE OF A TROPHY ???

Mild Bill pic

Since the Patriot Act is 342 pages of legal gibberish, I pulled up a synopsis on the Civil Disobedience web site.  They say:

The USA PATRIOT Act (“Patriot Act,“ “USAPA”) affects several civil liberties and many of the rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. The right to privacy, the First Amendment, the Fourth Amendment, Seventh Amendment, and the Eighth Amendment are specifically violated. Arguments could be made for more as well

  • Can someone show me where there is a “Right to Privacy” guaranteed in the Constitution?
  • I don’t understand how freedom of religion, speech, or the right to assemble are affected by the Patriot Act.  How are they affected?
  • I can see some 4th Amendment issues (unreasonable searches and seizures)
  • The 7th Amendment starts with these words:
In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved…What does this have to do with our current situation?
  • There definitely could be excessive bail/cruel and unusual punishment issues

Interesting how they didn’t cite the 5th Amendment which reads:

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury,

except

in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service

in time of war or public danger

Does 3,000 people being killed and billions of dollars in economic loss count as public danger?

Nearly every time I drove through Louisiana on I-12 between Slidell and Baton Rogue, I or one of the guys I travel with, were pulled by the cops.  Most of the times it was for bogus reasons.  Their intent, I assume, was to catch drug runners.  I don’t too much care for being pulled over, but if it helps catch those jerks I can live with it.

My fatwah is…suck it up…I don’t see anything much to worry about (unless you’re Al Qaeda)

Does anyone have any stories about how the Patriot Act has personally infringed on their liberty?  Does anyone know anyone whose rights have been infringed upon?  In past wars industries were nationalized, consumer goods were rationed, and people had to give up some of their freedoms.  I’ve not heard of anyone (other than some assholes in Guantanamo) whose liberties have been infringed upon.

I lived and worked on military bases for many years.  When you enter a military installation, there is a sign that says they are allowed to search you and your vehicle AT ANY TIME while you’re on the installation.  That’s so no bad guys sneak on and do bad things.  Well though it’s difficult to comprehend for some people, we are at war NOW!

I’ve heard many conflicting things about this stinking Patriot Act, so I guess I’ll read it and see for myself.  Stand by for issuance of my fatwah.  smile

Kyle, if you’re referring to TSO’s rendition of Carol of the Bells that Les mentions at the start of this post, it’s on their Christmas Eve And Other Stories album, which Les has linked to.  It’s Track #8 on that CD, Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24).

For any one else that might care, I highly recommend you see TSO live in concert, if you ever have that opportunity.  Their CD’s are among the best I own, yet they are junk compared to the live performance.  You don’t get the full experience of the “rock opera” until you’ve seen it complete with the narration, the light show, the actions of the performers, and everything else that goes with it.  The producers make sure to choose high caliber musicians to support the original group members, people who really understand the music and can express that understanding to you.  And I don’t know if they do this everywhere, but at our venue last year the entire group stayed afterwards to sign autographs for everyone who wanted them.

For being a story highly based in religion, I find that the message in TSO’s works extends above and beyond religion, and are true without it.  Maybe the writers just decided to go with a theme most people would at least be familiar with, I don’t know.  You just have to have the ears and the heart to “listen” to what they’re really saying, beyond the words.  Anyway, even being someone who really doesn’t care much for “religion” right now, I still love these albums and really believe in the simple truths they convey.

In fact I’m listening to them right now, in preparation for the concert on Saturday!  Last year’s was amazing, I was in awe for over two months, and this year I’m looking forward to savoring every moment!

As a matter of fact, Pope Pius XII (“Hitler’s Pope”) sent birthday cards to Hitler every year until his death. That is, until the Archbispop of Berlin issued a statement officially mourning Hitler’s death. Do YOU have a birthday card from the Pope? Careful not to get blood on your hands.

said the following in The Vatican is telling countries stricken by AIDS that condoms aren't safe. United States Posted on 11/13/2003 at 03:41 AM

Um, Catholic Church 1, Jews 0…but only if you’re scoring on the side of Hitler.

Pope Pius XII, the Pope of the WWII era, is widely known for his complicity while Hitler slaughtered 6 million Jews, and his failure in a stance to combat the Nazi murder machine. The church signed a deal with the devil, in keeping with it’s own goals of power and domination.

The Vatican continues to keep mute on its Holocaust involvement for a painful reason. Its silence was not due to the moral lapses of individual Catholics, or that the church was ignorant of, or duped by, Hitler’s aims. It was a deliberate policy of appeasement crafted by church leaders. Before he ascended to the papacy in 1939, Pius XII was the Vatican’s ambassador to Germany and secretary of state during the crucial period when Hitler rose to power, and knew full well what Hitler was up to.

In his well-documented work, “Hitler’s Pope: the Secret History of Pius XII.“ John Cornwell, Jesus College, Cambridge University professor notes that the Vatican signed its ill-famed concordat with Hitler in 1933 to prevent him from grabbing church property and meddling in church affairs. In return the Vatican pledged the absolute obedience of Germany’s Catholic priests and bishops to Hitler. As Pope, Pius XII sent a letter praising “the illustrious Hitler,“ and expressing confidence in his leadership.

Seems Pope Pius XII all but sucked Hitler’s dick.

This is just one of the first reasons I began to hate the Catholic Church, or more accurately, the Papacy….then they gave me so many more. So many choices, so little time.

Oh no, now my feelings are hurt. I suppose looking like a weasel is still better than the jackass you look like.

I find it amusing that you don’t realize that Hitler was a Catholic in good standing as far as the Vatican was concerned.

As for the score, I’d say the Catholic church is probably responsible for way more deaths than the mere 1 you ascribe to it. Whereas this site has, indeed, failed to score a single death so far.

Weapons weren’t needed to be drawn, but the sudden police presense and run of dogs was a brilliant idea… but the major flaw was definately that no arrests were made.
I did read that the Principal had suspisions of activities involving drugs, including video tapes of “hand-offs”. Also, he said his “informants” (prolly concerned students) told him the dealers were probably armed. All facts will have to be revealed before final judgement can be made, but something tells me the principal was exaggerating the actual problem abit, but whether he did or didn’t one thing is for sure… he best start looking for a new job. I currently live in Charleston and believe me it is a big deal. Weapons did not need to be drawn and even if drugs were sniffed out in student’s backpacks it would be legal to search them then and there. None were! It has been reported over and over that no drugs were found.

This is a disturbing incident and serves to illustrate the attitudes of some of those in law enforcement in post 9/11 USA. It was a show of force and control only, that the principle felt he wanted to instigate. It sounds too convenient to cite the K-9 unit’s dogs findings, while having no bust to show for it. We can’t ask the dogs if their masters are telling the truth.

*You must check out* I imagine he will be selling a CD soon. Just to be fair, there are plenty of patriotic, religious and generally bad recordings out there already. If you want to be sickened, embarrassed or tickled beyond belief check out the 365 Days list of infamous recordings, which I’ve been meaning to pass on for a while now.
365 Days Project

William Shatner’s “Rocket Man” is there, as is an offering by Jodie Foster, just to name a couple.

You’ll also find Paul Harvey, Richard “survey says” Dawson, Dick Clark, Orson Welles “Get me a jury and show me how you can say in July and I’ll go down on you”, and a piece called “Religion for Retarded - Lessons 13 and 14”.

This site is amazing for allowing bad material to be so much fun to listen to, and the wealth of offerings is unequaled anywhere else that I know of. One of the scariest pieces is probably “Jesus Put the Stars in the Sky” by Lil’ Markie who is also responsible for the ridiculous but oh so serious “Diary of an Unborn Child”

When you have your next get together and play a few of these classic recordings to both amuse and disgust your friends, don’t forget to thank me…or curse me, whichever may apply.

Do it for yourself.  If you do that, then it becomes something you enjoy and look forward to, not something you dread or feel pressured to do.  I guarantee ya’ that we’ll all still come around. smile

I’ve been using Vonage’s svc. for almost 4 months now and am extremely happy with the service (it kicks butt compared to the ridiculoulness of toll charges incurred by using the local carrier).  The only complaint is on the QoS end when someone (namely me) is uploading or downloading some very large file.  Voice tends to get choppy or goes out at that point.  I’ll put up with the limitations, however, due to the other positives relating to flexibility (I can forward calls to any number within my area code for free, etc.)...  I just hope the gov. continues to treat the calls as data.  It is assinine to consider it anything but from the technical side of things…
