I do not have a good, warm feeling about this Iraq WMD nonsense.  The way Bush got us into this thing was ridiculous…liberating the Iraqi people, blah, blah, blah.  What I would have done was to remind Iraq of that little piece of paper they signed in 1991.  It went something like this:

We, the Iraqi government, unconditionally promise to drag our tired asses back to our god-forsaken sand box and leave the sand box known as Kuwait alone.  We will also dismantle our WMD programs and allow UN inspections.  We will do this if you crazy ass Americans stop killin’ the shit out of us and go back to watching Baywatch and MTV.

That they signed an unconditional surrender and reneged on the terms was enough reason (though I would not have attacked them for that).  I wish Bush had just allowed the Iraqi’s to continue their programs and if we were attacked, go in and get them (if Iraq was found to be the culprit).  This is a big country…we can handle a few thousand civilian casualties, the collapse of our financial markets, and panic in the streets.

Some proof here would be nice, Brock. You can have your opinion about existence, and when you fail to back it up with rational, it’s no big thing. I mean you’re only hurting yourself. I happen to think that democracy in general and the US in particular have contributed mightily to “peaceful positive co-existence” and without them I don’t think we’d have made it through the nuclear age. Isn’t the US supposedly a Christian nation? Buy a large print bible and actually read it before you decide that it contradicts itself or is too long. If you find a specific contradiction please let me know.

Les, just tell me were to send it, or go to http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1576738566/kasoftsoftware0c/002-3737129-4706450

OK, now things get really interesting. I’m going to make 3 major types of argument, and each will have minor supporting arguments. The overall thrust is to prove the existence of a Theistic God. I’ll start with my least favorite: The world based argument. I think we are all familiar with the idea of cause and effect. We use science to establish a cause – reproducible results are the underpinning of science. Since everything that had a beginning had a cause, the universe, which had a beginning had a cause.

Nothing does not produce anything. Things do not spring spontaneously into being (E=M(C[squared])).(OK can’t figure out how to superscript). Most evolutionists I’ve spoken with say they have explained our existence, when in reality they’ve only explored a possible explanation of the method. There was always this or that that the current thing evolved from. But even that primordial ooze had to come from somewhere.

The universe had a beginning. In spontaneous changes the universe tends to a state of greater disorder (2nd law of thermodynamics or Maxwell’s daemon). We are tending to disorder – wouldn’t there need to be an original state of order from which we are degenerating? Something (some cause) had to create that original state of order. There is less and less energy in the universe, at some point we had to be at the highest point of energy (the beginning) and we are heading to a point of no energy (absolute zero, or the end). The universe is expanding. If time reversed, the universe would collapse back into nothing- not a tiny dot. Hawking, Jastrow, almost all the imminent Physicists agree, all our math and physics, even the big bang theory agrees on this point. The scientific evidence leads to supernatural cause.

If there is no God (creator) why is there something instead of nothing?

Clinton’s little slip-ups???  Impeachment? Perjury?  Releasing ballistic missile technology to the Chinese?  Pardoning a convicted cocaine dealer because Daddy was a big time contributor to the party?  Bombing an aspirin factory in the Sudan?  An extended bombing campaign against Iraq in ’98 for almost exactly the same reasons Bush did this year?

Clinton did a hell of a lot of good things when he was in office, but overall the man was an embarrassment.  I was in the military during all of his “slip-ups” and you know what burned me up more than anything?  The Monica Lewinsky nonsense!  Clinton, as the Commander in Chief, was the guy who would have decided the rules to court-martial me if I was accused of adultery.  That little “slip-up” with the perjury and making false statements, would have bought me an extended “vacation” at beautiful Ft Leavenworth, Kansas.  It just chaps me that the lowest Airman in the Air Force or the lowest Private in the Army is held to a higher standard than the CINC.

I could list many idiotic things Bush has done (and he is an embarrassment much of the time), but come on…don’t make like Clinton just had a few “slip-ups”.  Neither Bush nor Clinton mows my lawn or pays any of my bills, so I can be objective in my criticism of both.

Liberals accommodate different viewpoints??!!  Paaaa-leeez, liberals can be just as narrow as conservatives.  From the way I see it, liberals are floundering these days because they don’t have an agenda.  “George Bush Sucks!” is not an agenda.  Where the hell is John Kennedy when you need him?  Actually much of what John got credited for was accomplished by LBJ and to a greater extent, Bobby Kennedy.  Give me a Bobby Kennedy any day, but these wishy-washy liberals…paaa-leeez.

Ooops, I’ve put a bull’s eye on my back again

Really, am i missing something here? I see clouds in the shape of poodles all the time but i don’t think there is really a crapload of poodles in the horizon, people should get a life, i find it odd that someone would freak out over something they don’t really have much evidence on besides a book. anyway, if god does exist and the devil does, i seriously think god should burn in hell because of theat passove tthing where god killed the first born egyptian because the jews weren’t being freed, i mean if my brother was killed even though he had nothing to do with the jews being killed thing, i would hate god very much, still poor jews and egyptian dudes, if i did believe in god, i would think the christians were worshipping the wrong god. yes, i got a little of subject, anyway, christians are kinda crazy little bastards huh? raspberry

Mild Bill,
Speaking for myself, the emotional inflammation and offense is from the personal attacks. The FDR thing sounded like a compairison, if not, sorry. The German thing, You are 100% right, they did everything wrong! I was just saying that FDR’s speech must have seemed a lot more credible ( compaired to Bush’s) after seeing all the gee-wizz gadgets the Germans had. I don’t know about everyone else, but I can appreciate your perspective. It was your insults and belittling approach that invited backlash.

Les, Sorry for the brawl. Next time I promise to keep it a little more toned down. By the way, ya got any buckets?(LOL)

No spare floor space, I’m afraid, but I must offer a little clarification on what I’ll be doing at Dragon Con.  With the author’s permission, I will definitely be reading “The Porcelain Salamander,” by Orson Scott Card (aloud--watching me read it silently would be pretty boring) as a performance piece.  Just me, no one else, like listening to an audio book but with smells if you’re close enough.

Not to be confused with my friends at the Atlanta Radio Theater Company, who will be there as they are every year, with--I think--performances scheduled for Friday and Saturday night.  The ARTC do fully cast live radio drama, and are really good at it.  I’ve performed with them before, and might again at this event, I’m not sure how it’ll end up, but what the ARTC does WON’T be anything in connection with Orson Scott Card.

The short story is one I’ve done before with a lot of positive feedback.  It’s really a chance to see me do something that’s not restricted by the confines of anime, yet not a “Man of 1,000 Voices” tour de force either.  Just an excellent little fable told well, I hope.  It’s my favorite story by OSC, too.  I’ll have CD’s on hand to sell of some Edgar Allen Poe after the performance as well.

Thanks Les, for mentioning it, and congratulations on beating your blogathon goal!

I think it’s more a matter of infomercials are worthless by definition and aren’t meant to entertain whereas the presumption is that a show is meant to entertain and if it doesn’t then it’s crap. That’s not to say that infomercials aren’t crap or can’t be crap, but I don’t watch them long enough to determine one way or the other so I don’t classify them.

Wow, that’s a pretty complex explanation for someone who’s brain isn’t functioning at full capacity at the moment. Damn I’m impressive.
