The really odd thing about this clip is that I don’t really disagree with the idea that little kids should probably avoid cussing until their old enough to do it effectively. At the same time there are times when a kid might cuss that I would totally understand and tolerate because it’s the sort of situation I’d probably cuss in as well.

Like the time my son (then about 2) tried to turn the Christmas tree on and turned the surge protector off thereby turning the light and the TV off as well, then proceeded to say, “JESUS CHRIST! WHAT THE HELL!!” all the while flailing his arms around in frustration? Yea, we still laugh about how appropriate it was.

I, too, dislike arbitrary costume changes and hate this one. I assume it was to distinguish their Spider-Man from Raimi’s and perhaps to improve licensing revenue somehow.

I also don’t care for the casting. This guy doesn’t look like Peter Parker to me, and Doc Connors just seems all wrong.

I think I’ll wait for Netflix to get this one.

OK, My Lowe’s story… I used to have a commercial account with them. At one point I had a balance of something like $6.00. So, I went to their web site to pay it. Hmmm.. It says here you can not enter an amount larger than your balance… Then it also says here that the minimum payment amount is $10.00. So, I just waited it out until I shopped there again, but before I could, they canceled my card for non-payment.

Fuckers.

I guess they’re not too familiar with the technical.

The whole thing doesn’t really make any sense, even from a business standpoint. Why would you want to limit the number of ways people could find your website, or advertise your store – especially when the first is free and the second essentially so?

I’m going agree with bdoserror – this sounds like they tried to solve some problem and gave the solution to some people who haven’t really a clue exactly what they were doing.

Contrary to popular misconception, you don’t need to have a Google+ account to see 99% of what I post there. Though having one does allow you to circle me and have them show up in your account’s stream if you wish.

The one thing I think would help make it a little more clear cut would be if the excerpts were placed into Blockquotes, but the plugin doesn’t have that option at the moment. I think I’ve mentioned it to the author, but don’t recall. Right now, though, it ends up making duplicate entries way too often for me to be happy with. I may revisit it in the future when it’s got a few more iterations under its skin, but for now I’ll leave it off.

I would guess this started due to some shopping/aggregation site linking into them rather than being any nefarious attempt to stifle criticism or profit off simple linking. A poorly drafted/worded policy that your average person wouldn’t stumble across then gets interpretted in a broader context.

Susan G. Koman did that a few years ago when I was looking to link to their website when my aunt was dying from BC. It actually got me started hating them for their arrogance.

I guess Lowe’s is just taking it one step farther to hopefully keep people from criticizing them.
