Games I’m Looking Forward To: “World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria”

I’ve been playing World of Warcraft since it launched back in 2004. It quickly grew to be the 800 lb gorilla of MMORPGs and it has maintained that position by constantly evolving over time. There have been three expansions to the game since then that tweaked the formula with changes both major and minor. The next expansion, Mists of Pandaria, looks set to continue that trend when it arrives. Today, Blizzard released the new cinematic for the expansion and it shows why people keep coming back for more:

Check it:

Some have decried the new expansion as being Kung-fu Panda Warcraft, but having played in the beta I can say that it’s way more than that. I’m definitely looking forward to playing the final release.

  1. I just got back into WoW after about 8 months off. Seeing this, I feel some of the old, pre-Activision Blizzard shining through. I’m going to drop my pre-order today.

Now, to transfer/reroll to a more populated server, or stick it out and see what it looks like 4-6 months after release?

  2. I was actually a bit disappointed with diablo 3 though as to exactly what disappointed me I couldn’t put my finger on. As to WoW… well after seeing the new talent trees I get the feeling that the game is being simplified by a lot. I could be wrong but the talent trees alone have made me stand pretty far back waiting for a few souls braver than I to try it out and tell me what it’s like.
