Obama mocks critics of Health Care Reform.

We need more of this from the President:

Keep calling the hypocritical blow-hards out for the bullshit they’re shoveling. The rhetoric from the Right is so ridiculous that the only appropriate response is ridicule.

After all, trying to treat them like rational grown ups hasn’t worked.

Superb! Loved the bit about the pundits on the farm!

  • What is there to mock? Obama is basically making us bend over for the insurance companies to have their way with us using only water based lube.

Millions of people struggle to pay their mortgage and/or live paycheck to paycheck. Please explain how they will pull an extra $2,500/year per person out of their asses to pay for required health insurance or the $650 fine for not having it?

This isn’t the socialized health care we were promised, its extortion.

His first argument seemed facetious. It could equally be applied to the Patriot Act or Prop 8. Also he immediate undermines his own point when he stresses that ‘it’s only been a week’.

However I will agree that rational arguments have never worked with wingnuts so perhaps poking fun at them really is the only option.

    Moloch asks:

    Through subsidies:

What are the requirements for individuals to buy insurance?

Starting in 2014, a person who did not obtain coverage would pay a penalty of $95 or 1% of income, whichever is greater. That penalty would rise to $695 or 2.5% of income by 2016. The bill would exempt the lowest-income people from that insurance requirement.

Medicaid would be expanded to cover those under age 65 with an income of up to 133% of the federal poverty level (below $29, 327 for a family of four).

To make coverage more affordable, the legislation would offer premium subsidies for people with incomes more than 133% but less than 400% of the federal poverty level ($29,327 to $88, 200 for a family of four).

In addition, people in their 20s would have the option to buy a lower-cost “catastrophic” health plan.

It’ll be 2014 before the penalties even kick-in and I’m willing to bet you’ll be seeing all manner of new and relatively affordable plans being introduced by insurance companies to try and get a bit of the subsidies that’ll be offered.

If Obama gets done with his presidency in the future, he should consider taking up a job at the Daily Show

  • Living in Canada during the Bush years of the USA was liking living next door to a skanky clan of hillbilies, popping off their shootin’ irons whenever they felt like it. Hoping every year that the owners of the property would evict them before they got drunk one night and came over the fence.

Obama’s best feature: he’s not Bush.

Obama’s second best feature: he’s a pretty cool guy!

After video clip after quote after example of how the right wingnuts are wound way too tight, it is SO refreshing to hear that the leader of the USA is an actual grownup adult. A good neighbour at last!
