Halloween should actually be written Hallow e’en- it is a contraction of All Hallows Eve, the night before the Christian festival of All Saints Day.  It’s nothing to do with God’s drinking buddy.

That means that every 4 years (when there are 366 days in a year) the devil, Corn King, or some other form of absolute malevolence has reign on the earth…and it’s people like you who are missing your opportunity to protect the souls of the raped and molested animals and people attending demon orgies from their influence.

What leguru said. Halloween isn’t responsible for the evil that men do. Men are responsible for the evil they do. To say otherwise is to absolve them of responsibility for their actions.

There is some kind of evil in the universe – the kind of evil that makes men rape women in war with rifles; the kind of evil that was manifest in the holocaust.  We see the capacity of man for evil in history – both ancient and recent Evil can be attractive and even glamourous…. all of us have the capacity for evil – its our ego gone beserk… therefore, I think we should guard against the evil in ourselves and others.

The last part of that quote makes sense. The first part places evil outside of ourselves, and thus robs us of the power to control it. We can only control what we own. When we take responsibility for whatever we have done, we then have the power to change it. If, “The devil made me do it,” only the devil has the power to change it. That is known as a cop-out. That is also the evil that results from giving someone else that control: a priest, a witchdoctor, a politician. Own it and you can change it. Like Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see.”

I think there is another “side” and I, while not a fundamentalist christian, have always feared halloween.  There is some kind of evil in the universe – the kind of evil that makes men rape women in war with rifles; the kind of evil that was manifest in the holocaust.  We see the capacity of man for evil in history – both ancient and recent Evil can be attractive and even glamourous…. all of us have the capacity for evil – its our ego gone beserk… therefore, I think we should guard against the evil in ourselves and others.  While I think this women’s “take” on demons and witches is off the wall – there is an underlying reality to the fear of evil – of opening up the door to it.  Just the other day a girl was gang raped and others looked on… that’s in America in the modern age…. It is charming to see the young children dressed up in costumes – and, to see the interaction between the children and the adults giving candy… however, the other manifestations of halloween – the excuse to “go crazy” should be guarded against.  While this women’s ranting about witches etc. may seem “crazy” I have no doubt that there is an underlying validity to her fears.
