In the video-editing room in my mind, I’d add some shooting stars or just the night sky, as I’ve spent many goofy moments quickly reaching my brain’s capacity to process how vast the universe is…

Nice timing in this video. Each moment lasted long enough to feel, but not long enough to attach or ponder anything beyond what is just there to experience. I spend most of my waking hours dwelling on stuff that has nothing to do with now, so every moment I can enjoy on its own terms is a moment of freedom.

I always found the question about why Atheists keep on living what is ultimately a pointless life rather silly.

The nihilistic principle inherent in an atheistic Universe isn’t something to kill yourself over. It means that you can create your own meaning in life. You can discover what is right and wrong. You have the freedom to make yourself. Losing my faith was the single most liberating thing in my life and I have cherished not only my life but the lives of all others much more since then. Life is brief and beautiful, and it is worth holding on to every last moment of it.

Thanks for the vid Les…it says so much about that without saying anything at all.

Moments are where we live out our lives, from one to the next, through our individual perceptions of reality.

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time… like tears in rain… Time to die.

Interesting video Les.  I have never fully understood the point of the question that you mention from the believer to the athiest.  I think that some people life becomes a collection of the ‘stepping in the dog shit’ moments, in part because of what they choose to focus on.  Their is no doubt that for some people, in some seasons of life, the positive moments are few and far between.  I think maybe in those seasons, believers hold on looking for a deeper meaning, where athiests may remember/look forward to positive moments.

What more could you ask for then a collection of moments?  Well, clearly believers are asking and looking for some sort of deeper meaning.

From that standpoint, Hoffman’s ending is intriguing.
