OK, checking other individual pages, it appears to be unique to this entry and I’m assuming it’s the size of the thread that’s doing it. It appears that the huge number of comments in this thread is eating up enough of the RAM allocated to SEB that there’s not enough left to completely render the side bar.

Guess it’s time to close this thread.

Just checked it in FF, IE, and Chrome. No problems here. Update: That is until I looked to the right. It appears to have a problem on the individual post page, but not the main page. Odd. I'll check into it.

Just heard about a new book, Divinity of Doubt: The God Question by Vincent Bugliosi. He was interviewed on KFI Radio in L.A. and has some very interesting points to indicate that God would have a very weak case in a court of law, at least the Christian and Jewish God. The scriptures, as many here know, are probably the best atheist (or agnostic) tract on the planet.

Looks like DOF has neatly handled red kilt7 (what do they wear under those kilts?).

Being a Christian is about aspiring to be better and more spiritual. It is a journey and not a destination that Christians want friends and love ones to join.

Right, because nobody else wants to be better and more spiritual; only Christians. While your head is up there, check yourself for colonic polyps.

I disagree with homosexuality and abortion but I am not the judge, that is left for a higher power but I would like to make an effort to show a different view point to the consequences of both. Observation of men will never lead to salvation but asking for forgiveness can.

So he “disagrees” with homosexuality and abortion, how nice. And where’s he going with this, folks? What are the “consequences” of which he speaks? All is revealed in his very next comment:

Oh, right: it ends up in the standard threat of eternal torture. You know, because he isn’t the judge, but his loving god will mete out unspeakable punishment.

RedKit, is this your first attempt to engage atheists in discussion? Because it would be charitable to say you have some reading to do.

Recent events are illustrative. In the ’2010 elections, Republicans – professed Christians* all – ran on a relentless “Jobs, economy, debt-reduction” platform. Since getting into office they’ve ignored those petty issues and worked relentlessly to destroy women’s reproductive freedom, gut environmental and workplace safety rules, protect the oil companies, protect Wall Street, bust unions, fight against gay rights…

Or basically what anyone who has watched them for any length of time would have come to expect.

One wag commented that they want smaller government so it will fit in a woman’s vagina. Some truth to that. But speaking to the hypothetical Christian asking the question of this post (since our pastor has left the building), if you couldn’t see how Republican actions since the recent election illustrate the point, I don’t know what to do with you.

*(Can’t be just any Christians either – these guys are super Christians.)

hi also another problem i have with christians is their prosletyzing. i know it is in the bible to spread the word of “god” but leave me alone.

inspite of the fact that i am a good person, i’m going to hell because i don’t accept jesus christ as my savior.

Looks like you and I will be in great company. I’m thinking Socrates, Einstein, Aristotle, Shakyamuni, Confucius, Walt Whitman, etc, etc. The Christian Heaven that has been promoted to me does not appeal. Thank you.
