  Didn’t Bush invite this guy to give a speech once? Whatever possessed him to do that I wonder? And whatever convinced Colbert to accept? Or am I thinking of someone else?

  Yeah Colbert did have a speech in white house (its still on youtube).

  Colbert was invited to speak at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner and it’ll probably be the last time he’s invited to do so. The speech is scathingly funny, but those in attendance were not amused. For example at one point he said:

  But, listen, let’s review the rules. Here’s how it works. The President makes decisions, he’s the decider. The Press Secretary announces those decisions, and you people of the press type those decisions down. Make, announce, type. Put them through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kicking around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration. You know, fiction.

  Oh Jesus H. Krishna. They thought he was for real? I could buy that Bush’s people were insane but I never though they were actually stupid.

  With the obvious exception of Bush himself of course.
