If he tries that, just hammer him on “parachuting” into something which he understand nothing. He’s admitted the latter and flown into a rage once already when accused of the former on something else.

And I may just be too reality-based, but when Bush’s Paulson is asking for unlimited and un-audited power, even the average American may find it hard to swallow that it’s the Democrats who are making the socialism move here.

Well I guess McCain presumed that Obama would follow his lead and play thier little games.
Maybe someone can tell me how exactly McCain believes he can help in any way?

I particularly liked how Letterman had a go at Palin not being good enough to fill in for McCain in the debate.

A brilliant bit of analysis on what should have been done in this situation.  I agree—where is the vice president running mate?  Is this an example of the support that will be given each time a critical situation occurs?

Obama doesn’t have much of a chance of winning anyway. A recent CNN poll showed that 40% of Democrats do not feel comfortable voting for a black man.

I doubt that a financial crisis is equal to erasing such atavistic prejudices.

Pretty funny.  The word here is that the financial crisis has raised Obama’s approval level to the extent that only a fluke upset like Truman’s over Dewey in 1948 could cost him the election.  But all kinds of “funny” things could still happen.  Let’s all keep our thumbs held (as they say here).

Sadly, what goes up so quickly, can go down quickly too. Like with oil prices. Back down to “normal” levels, and gee, suddenly it doesn’t seem all that important to fix oil dependency anymore…

So let’s hope he will keep that kind of bounce (and I think he will gain at least a little from it in terms of final points tallied) but this isn’t over. Not by a few weeks yet…
