I usually don’t pay much attention to Rush Limbaugh because, well, he’s raving lunatic. A point which is driven home by his recent call for riots at the Democratic convention:
“Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don’t elect Democrats,” Limbaugh said during Wednesday’s radio broadcast. He then went on to say that’s the best thing that could happen to the country.
Several callers called in to the radio show to denounce Limbaugh’s comments, when he later stated, “I am not inspiring or inciting riots, I am dreaming of riots in Denver.”
Limbaugh said with massive riots in Denver, which he called part of “Operation Chaos,” the people on the far left would look bad.
“There won’t be riots at our convention,” Limbaugh said of the Republican National Convention. “We don’t riot. We don’t burn our cars. We don’t burn down our houses. We don’t kill our children. We don’t do half the things the American left does.”
He believes electing Democrats will hurt America’s security and economy and appeared to call on his listeners to make sure that doesn’t happen.
“We do, hopefully, the right thing for the sake of this country. We’re the only one in charge of our affairs. We don’t farm out our defense if we elect Democrats … and riots in Denver, at the Democratic Convention will see to it we don’t elect Democrats. And that’s the best damn thing that can happen to this country, as far as I can think,” Limbaugh said.
Later, Limbaugh downplayed his “dreaming of riots in Denver” statement, and said that he wasn’t calling for riots and was referring to warnings of trouble if superdelegates decide the nomination at the Democratic National Convention.
Apparently Rush is more afraid of the Democrats winning in November than I thought. Perhaps we should start letting him abuse drugs again. He seemed a lot less totally fucking nuts when he was high most of the time.

Fascinating. You must be some kind of qualified climatologist yourself, with access to broad and integrated sources of climate data, plus analytic resources, to make that claim. Because the majority of actual climate scientists seem to have a different impression.
You can find scientists who disagree with the AGW consensus, but expertise is field-specific. And for the record, Al Gore didn’t come up with the idea of AGW – it has been developing in the scientific community for a long time.
Climatologists wrong? Possibly. The race does not always go to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but that’s the way to bet.
No I am not a scientist, that is a rough estimation based on scientific discoveries… the majority of the earth is christian, does that make it true? No, because there are many mixed opinions out there with NO definite answer.
I know that Al Gore didn’t come up with AGW, but he is the top promoter of it.
Its all based on unproven theories, and mine is simply that the common people who drive to work everyday are not the #1 cause. Our habits have changed, but the glaciers are still melting which means that the primary effect is coming from another source and is still very active.
LOL at republicans…
Mom: The media is so left-wing bias these days; always promoting liberal extremists… thats why I watch Fox news- they get both sides of the story.
Me: They are actually known for being quite bias towards the Republican party- they are a joke to the majority of the country.
Mom: Then why is it one of the top watched networks out there?
Me: Because they have captivating shows like House and 24.
Mom: those shows are probably a reflection of their personality.
Huh. Must have missed that news item. We’re not emitting gigatonnes of CO2 anymore? We stopped cutting down the rain forests? Stopped overfishing the oceans? When did all that happen?
Fox news and fox entertainment broadcasting are two different things, BTW.
WE have no control over who is cutting down the rain forest. Your missing my point which is that, us, me and you and the larger percent of the world have changed out habits, green is a common trend now. Cutting down the rain forests is in the hands of corporation presidents, and powerful men… which i mentioned before saying that scientists should not direct their attention to us but to them. Just re-read my comments, and notice that I am specifying the common people and how we are hardly the problem.
Thats what I was getting at… -.-’ I was talking to my mother on the phone and she was telling me that Fox was said to be the #1 watched station. And then I pointed out, thats because their network has shows… and because she decided she didn’t want to be wrong she exclaimed that “their network is a reflection of their personality”
Yeppers. That is why we keep them bailouts rolling on the river. Leaves me working for the man every night and day.
By the way, the blasphemy laws in Britain were repealed last year. There is some new act that is different in that in effect expands the breadth of protection, but limits the depth. I forget the name.
Okay. First off- what dof said. There is “socialism” and there is “socialism”- all governments are “socialistic” to some extent: the only completely socialism-free state is anarchy: government itself is a “socialist” institution.
And yes, Julian, there are states considered “socialistic” that are doing quite well: Austria, where I live, is one of them. And yes: some things are not as free here as in America. For instance, what you said about the Wiederbetätigung laws: it is indeed illegal to say nice things about Nazis. In fact, I own a couple of posters that are illegal to display: NSDAP Wochenblätter, propaganda sayings from the Third Reich. In this case, I disagree with the law, because it seems to me to do more harm by making martyrs out of the pathetic Neonazis.
And there are also silly laws on the books, as Hussar mentioned: I just learned, for instance, that it’s illegal in Austria to keep rabbits and guinea pigs in the same cage. But so what? There are all sorts of such laws everywhere.
But more importantly: I am not as “free” here in Austria to buy or carry weapons as in America. The government here is not as “free” as in America to spy on me. As a result (of course, there are cultural factors at play here as well), I am free to walk through the park at 3 A.M. here without fear, and I am free to say anything I want in any forum (as long as I don’t idolize Nazis) without fear that it will be recorded and used against me.
I know which freedoms are more important to me. I am hopeful that America, with the defenestration of Bush’s kleptocracy, will start to move more in this direction too, and restore what America has historically been justifiably proud of.
DoF, Zilch and LH, you all make some good points. I don’t completely agree with you but it seems that things are not as cut and dried as I believed.
On the other hand, businesses will screw you no matter what, and having a democratic government deeply involved in them means you get to stick it to them back, prevent them from certain types of screwing, and the like. It’s often not socialism that necessarily screws up the free market, but the lack of democracy. Large groups of people aren’t exactly geniuses, but eventually large mobs of idiots can and will vote for self preservation.
Anarchy isn’t a replacement for democracy though, and it doesn’t support a free market. Anarchy promotes survival of fittest, the man with the guns, the gangs able to exert control. Anarchy isn’t good for anyone – look at places like Somalia and parts of Africa and you can see what happens when anarchy flips out and rears its ugly head.
Speaking as a member of a governmental bureaucracy, I’d like to point out that oversight, private and public, is the key to making any system work without (or at least significantly less) corruption. That’s independent of anything else really. That’s obviously not the most agile of options in any instance, but “greasing of palms” occurs less when you’re doing spot inspections and arresting people for it. That lack of consequence is one of the reasons anarchy is such a poor option for anything.
I will heartily second that, MM.
I see no evidence of large numbers of people changing their habits. A recent Pew poll found Global warming dead last among public priorities. As a society, we’re pretty much drivin’ the cars, ridin’ them jets, scarfing down the meat, throwing away the aluminum, and whining about start-up times on them fancy light bulbs. Anti-environmental propaganda is hungrily devoured by a huge part of society.
Thanks Julian. I get that feeling myself a lot lately, former Reagan voter that I am. Call me a newly-hatched liberal, (gradually starting about 7 years ago) thanks to what passes for ‘conservative’ these days.
Zilch, I agree with you on the speech laws. Lawmakers seem like a humorless lot, opaque to the power of laughter to dismantle evil ideologies. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
As for blasphemy laws, we still have plenty of those on the books here in the United States as well. One of the first entries I ever wrote talked about Michigan’s blasphemy laws.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blasphemy
It has a section on which countries have, and are using blasphemy in their country.,
Fuck rush limbaugh! He’s evil!
If that faggot ever showed up near me or my family, I’d castrate him and cut off his dick and blow his head off.
@rushishomo – now you sound like a conservative troll.
i dont care. fuck yeah im a troll. but that bastard is a rapist, murdered and homo. fuck that old crow.
I second that. Especially the ‘ishomo’ part… hm.. blind prejudice blows.. I do smell a conservative troll ^^
For a raving crazy pants, he sure reels in the cash. He knows exactly what he is doing. He is a entrepreneurial man. Isn’t that what America is all about, manipulating the masses for more cash?
Rush Limbaugh is simply a fat pervert!
