Talk about over reacting and general stupidity.  The dumbest part of this was once it was all over they wanted charge these men as terrorists and bill them for the cost of all the firetrucks and SWAT and FBI time involved in this.  Under that logic anytime a paranoid person freaks out and calls the cops on possible terrorists activity the thing or person that is investigated could then be held as liable for the costs of having the police come out to check on a possible terrorist threat?

I’m a double posting bastard, but here’s an AP article about a student from MIT that was stopped at gunpoint by police at an airport for wearing an LED name badge.  This article is more about the final court verdict then the details of the original arrest but…

Simpson, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology student from Lahaina, Hawaii, had gone to Logan International Airport last September to pick up her boyfriend.

She was held at gunpoint and arrested by state troopers after an alarm was raised over the battery-powered device on her shirt, which had flashing lights and the words “Socket to me” and “Course VI” (a major at MIT) written on the back.

What’s the term for a person afraid of LED’s?  Because the entire city of Boston apparently has the problem.
