Sometimes I still scan as I used when I did speed reading.

Anything you say is automatically associated with “cute” in my mind, Sadie, and you can never be too clever, but….

I just left a comment that I thought was cute and perhaps a little too clever. I for one welcome blogs from SEB regulars—the more the merrier.

I used to live about an hour’s drive from Atlantic City, so we’d go up to the casino’s about once a month. I had a fool proof system. I played craps, bet slow and steady on the pass line and never chased a loss. This doesn’t make you win, it just arranges for you to lose slowly.

See, in Atlantic City (and I assume in Vegas) the wait staff bring you free drinks as long as you’re gambling, hoping it will make you careless.

I could drink more booze than I lost money as long as I stuck to my plan.

LJ: James Randi – didn’t he die? Or was someone doing some channelling OR is it JR jnr or another option I’ve not considered?

Nope – JR is still alive and kicking.  Apparently he had a pretty serious cardiac incident last year, but he’s said to be fully recovered.  He seemed to be alive, but that might just be part of his act.

I know.  I sat next to a guy on the flight home who claimed to have lost $18,000.  He told me this after asking how I did and hearing that I won about $400.  The phrase, “Sucks to be you” came to mind, but I quashed that.

K. Engels: So Hitchens has finally started laying of the booze I take it?

I don’t believe so.  I heard that someone on the JREF forum claimed to have seen a stupendously drunk Hitchens in the elevator at the Riviera.  That’s the rumor, anyway.  He was, however, clear headed enough when he spoke, and I was a bit saddened that he wasn’t on stage longer than he was – the guy’s pretty eloquent.

It reminds me of a little like William Randolph Hearst’s,  News is something that someone doesn’t want printed … all the rest is unpaid advertising.

Michael: be especially wary of those claims that make you feel good.

A few years ago our Prime Minister made a statement with which I initially agreed … it appealed to part of me just as he meant it to. It scared me that I agreed with the smarmy right-winged little prick and after a few days of not being able to see another point of view I rang Dad who gave me a humanitarian point of view. Others woulda seen it as a Lefty’s point of view.

Yeah, far too many of the bastards about – would it be a fair statement to suggest many of them are Xian and Muslim?
