SEB has a surprisingly good sized core of dedicated commenters who stop by regularly to add their two cents to the various entries. This post is not for you. No, it’s for the much larger portion of the readership that stop by daily or weekly, but never quite get around to leaving a comment.
Well Veerle of Veerle’s blog has once again called upon her dark powers to declare that it’s Annual De-Lurking Time once again!
What exactly is De-Lurking?
The term is used for people that read blogs or join chat rooms or newsgroups and don’t participate in commenting. The readers that just look around because they don’t have anything to add to the discussion or because it’s already been said. Does this sounds like someone you know? It’s something that got orginally started by Sheryl from Papernapkin.
So now’s the time. If you’re an SEB regular who doesn’t comment often, or at all, then hit the comments section and type up a small missive to let us know you’re alive. Doesn’t have to be anything profound, just a simple “Hello!” will do.

To do is to be – Sartre
Do be do be do – Sinatra
Just wandered over from Two Percent Company. I’ll try to be a frequent visitor and comment as appropriate.
consider this a small hello from the land of Oz
Hello,
I’ve been lurking around this site for quite a while (two years?) but never really felt the need to post. I love the informative articles (being a programmer and technofetishist myself) and I talk about what I see on here enough that my girlfriend calls me a “les-fanboy”. Thanks to this site I fell in love with “The IT Crowd” and I just want to say thank you and keep up the good work.
Hello all.
I guess I fall into the regular visitor but infrequent comment person.
Have a good day…
Great site! I “lurk” in once a day….
Hello. Great site.
Hi,
I check in every couple of weeks or so. loved the Halloween graphics
Come on out to Virginny, Les…it has to be better than up there. It is more expensive here, but the pay is good too – especially if you know your way around a computer.
De-lurking? But that is when Lurkers are most vulnerable! It is only when safely burrowed underground that they may unleash their super-dense spines and thus present a formidable ground defense.
Er… I mean… I’ve been reading your work for about a year, and I like it.
En Taro Adun!
Hi!
Dammit! I forgot I’m not a lurker, I’m a Troll according to some people.
I ve been reading SEB for about 4 yrs now – or longer, it was jenkinsonline.net or similar at the time.
I am not a bot.
Keep it up, Les!
I post every once in a while, and read most every day. Highly enjoyable, Les, highly enjoyable. Keep up the good work.
In my defense i have made atleast one comment this past year and i even bothered to set up a user for it.. so im not really a lurker?
I rarely comment too. Yep, I’m a lurker.
As the whos would say “we are here! We are here! We are here!” Thanks for the entertainment.
Yo!
Keep up the “bad” work:-)
Occasional poster, long-time reader. I generally find that folks like Les, DOF, LJ, Zilch, KPG or Elwed steal MY thoughts and post them mere minutes before I can hit the “Submit” button . . . it’s quite clear to me they’re using some sort of ancient alien brain-sucking, thought-absorbent mind-tampon or idea-sponge that exists in another dimension . . . completely undetectable in *this* dimension.
Or sumthin’ like that. I just *know* it!
Hey, Les and all SEB’ers… I’ve been a lurker for about three years now (eep… how time flies…). Kudos for a dandy blog all around…
Hello, I have been checking your blog almost daily for the past year and a half. Love the regulars, love the support and love the debates. Great job Les. On the side – hope the job search goes well for you.
Hi!
‘De-lurked’ makes it sound like we are now knee high in 18 inch goblin type things, blinking in the unfamiliar light. Damn it – that one is stealing my wine- oy gerroff.
Hi Les,
Just out of hospital, back to reading you again after a break. Keep up the good work!
Hi, your new-ish site is confusing and disconcerting – so cheery looking!!! Don’t get over this way very often, I end up spending way too much time when I do.
Anyway, I found a bit in one of our local Minneapolis “free papers”, the kind you find in racks at bar entrances or in a box on the corner. In their news blotter is the following, about a man here in Minnesota who is suing the Amazing Randi because they won’t pay up the million dollars for “proof” of the paranormal. It’s a hoot.

OK!
Nurse, bring more of Mr Roller’s medicine.
Ahoy-hoy!
*uncloaks*
I haven’t stopped reading; just been using RSS feeds.

*smacks into wall*
Gotta be careful with those cloaking devices. Put them on inside out and you’ll hurt yourself.
I am at last!
Shout outs from Texas (my Blue voice echos in the middle of a vast red ocean)
Hi! I’ve been reading your site for about two years now and enjoy it, even though I really can’t say much to add. I can say that I’ve posted a couple of times.
OK,
Seams tis the time of season to come out of the dark (kinda hard from Alaska in winter) and show myself. I have been visiting this blog for at least 2 years and this is my first post. Damn, it’s hard to get good internet service in an igloo that melts every summer.
Fine, I’ll talk. Wait, no I won’t. Hehe.
And yes, I often read your blog. The main reason I don’t make a site of my own is due to ones like this; everything I want to say, has already been said. Also, I’d rather not dwell on the things that piss me off. Anyway, keep going! Keep going! I think it’s about time people spoke up to exercise their freedom of speech!
Oh, I’m late on this—been busy and just now catching up.
Uncloaking … Hi all!
Delurking aye!
RickU (from UTI) here to say that I try and drop by the site and catch up every week or so…
