I guess I will be in mourning for the next little while! Apparently I have had a whole rash of relatives killed in automobile accidents in Nigeria over the last six months to a year. I get one of these letters every second day or so and am afraid that if this keeps up the world will soon be without any Janssen’s at all. The strange thing is that I didn’t even know I had relatives in Africa. I thought all my forebearers came from Northern Europe! Oh well, I am off to Wal-Mart to buy a black suit!

Play em! That’s what I do. I had one convinced that I was a priest….. I sent “Sister Kenneth” off to retrieve my banking info in her wheelchair…. I told him it’s a 30 mile trip, “She isn’t fast, but she’s not quick either.”. I then introduced the evil, double-crossing “Father Bob”…. The Nigerian hated Father Bob but was willing to deal. (Faux emails come in handy).
I played the idiot for a few weeks and then got bored. I told him my real name is Sally. Anyways, I was entertained and I wasted his time. Maybe saved a naive soul from being ripped-off.
Well, of course we all have relatives in Africa. And a lot of them could really use some money, or at least some food and shelter. I have a feeling, though, that these guys in Nigeria are not the ones who need it most…
Ya Ya I know we all have relatives in Africa. I am talking about the ones I can actually name and have records of, including crazy aunt Gertrude.
By the way crazy Gertrude came out of the closet last week.
No she is not queer, that’s just where we keep her tied up!

Say HI to Aunt Gertie for me. I am amazed at how many otherwise realsonable people get sucked in by these scams. I guess there’s more greed in us than we would like to admit. I’ve been told that you can’t scam an “honest” person. Or is that an oxymoron, like “military intelligence”?
