Original “Prince of Persia” hidden in upcoming sequel.

Now here’s some sweet retro-gaming news: IGN.com is reporting that the upcoming release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for all the major platforms will contain the original Prince of Persia game as an unlockable minigame.

PlayStation 2: The entire, original Prince of Persia title as a hidden unlockable mini-game.

Xbox: The entire, original Prince of Persia 2 title will be included as a hidden bonus in addition to Xbox Live awareness.

GameCube/GBA:
The entire, original Prince of Persia will be included in the GameCube edition with connectivity capabilities that will allow players to unlock it through either the GameCube or GBA experience. Connectivity also immediately enables automatic health regeneration on the GCN version.

I can remember many an hour spent trying to finish the original PoP on my Commodore 64 and I don’t think I ever managed to complete it. As hard as it was, I loved every minute of it. Being included as part of the new game gives me that much more reason to hope someone buys it for me for Christmas.

I think I saw that the original PoP is also in the demo disc (which is available at Best Buy).  The pricetag on that is $5; however, if you purchase $5 worth of stuff, it gets knocked down to a penny.

At least, that’s what they did for the newest Star Wars gamecube game.

Addendum:  I only saw a preview disc for the PS2 version, so your mileage may vary.
